Erosion and Sediment Control
Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC)
Effective erosion and sediment control (ESC) is essential for protecting our waterways. Poor site management during construction can lead to significant sediment runoff, harming aquatic ecosystems and breaching environmental regulations. Understanding the fundamentals of ESC, and how to achieve compliance on site, is critical for anyone involved in this process, from council officers to contractors.
This course provides a practical foundation by introducing key ESC principles, common risks, and regulatory frameworks in Queensland, including requirements under the IECA Best Practice Guidelines (2008). Participants will learn how to identify issues on site, implement effective controls, and the learn processes of assessment to support better environmental outcomes.
