Extension – Awareness

To ensure your location has a lasting impact on the community, you’ll need to be aware of the following factors. Consider those listed below and write any notes or future considerations.

  • 1. Habitat Disturbance

    1. What animals and vegetation currently exist
    2. How can we ensure minimal disturbance of habitat?
    3. How can we ensure this site remains as natural as possible?
    4. What are key habitat items?
    5. What practices should we undertake and/or avoid? Eg. works only during daylight hours, disease mitigation

  • 2. Erosion and sediment control

    1. How can we safeguard against erosion?
    2. When should we time our works, what seasons would be idea? Eg. wet/dry
    3. What areas need to be stabilised as soon as possible?
    4. How can we manage vehicle movement on site?

  • 3. Allowing for future opportunities

    1. What can we add to the site?
    2. What can we remove from the site in future?
    3. What technology could be installed?
    4. What programs or education could be implemented?
