An Introduction to Strategic Waterways

Waterway management is complex. There are often many competing objectives and it is challenging for council and private industry to find the best solutions. Furthermore, the current Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) policy in Queensland focuses solely on sediment and nutrient reduction. It applies ‘one-size-fits all’ solutions to complex issues such as waterway management. Therefore, new tools are needed to adequately address the risks and benefits to waterways.
